The beach town of Pranburi and Pak Nam Pran

The beach town of Pranburi and Pak Nam Pran :  Pranburi is a charming small and peaceful beach town located between the royal holiday town of Hua Hin and Sam Roy Yot National Park, approx. 20 minute drive south of Hua Hin.

Until 15 years ago most visitors coming to Pranburi were Bangkok’s wealthiest families who built their beach homes in the town. Since then, the area has become somewhat of a rich suburb of Hua Hin. Hundreds of exclusive hotels have been built in Pranburi, such as the famous Six Senses hotel and Evason as well as first class small boutique hotels, some of them cater especially for honeymoon couples. Nowadays, the town of Pranburi offers family oriented resorts at decent prices too. Pranburi is wonderful for anyone looking for peace and quiet, great beaches, many bike treks and national parks.

Pak Nam Pran:  Pak Nam Pran is the name of a small fishermen village which is a part of Pranburi. It is located on the Pran River. The Pran River begins at Kaeng Krachan National Park, (Thailand’s biggest national park). The river crosses the town and meets the sea here in the small fishermen village of Pak Nam Pran.

In order to prevent flood, the Thai government has built a dam on the Pran River. It is approx.1.5 Km. long and 40 meters tall. The big lake created by the dam also provides drinking water to the area.

You can take a cruise on the Pran river from the fishermen village or join one of the fishing boats and enjoy fishing locally. There are plenty of good seafood restaurants on the beach serving fresh fish.

Please Note: a visit at the resort town of Pranburi is included in our quality tour program of Hua Hin area and it can also be included in the ultimate Thailand experience, our Coast to Coast tour.

As always, here is a short video I prepared for you about the Pranburi area and its hotels…Enjoy!!
