Phuket is Thailand’s biggest island. It is located in the Andaman Sea off Thailand’s west coast. If the word “island” gives you a thrill – please consider that Phuket is less than a hundred meters away from the mainland and it is connected to it by a small bridge. Phuket Travel was a great island about 20-30 years ago but has since then rapidly deteriorated. It has become very commercialized and unpleasant. It has turned into a target for crowds of tourists from all over the world – Russians, Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, etc.
Quite a number of resorts on the island are not located on the beach so you should really make sure exactly where your hotel is located before booking it. In addition, you should consider that Phuket is relatively far away from all of south Thailand’s tourists attractions and there are no similar attractions nearby the island – so it cannot be considered as a base island for touring the south.
Phuket Travel Season: for those of you who would like to go to Phuket, the season is November – May.
How to get to Phuket: by plane – but remember that many of Phuket’s beaches are located about an hour drive from the airport, (Patong, Kata, Karoon, etc.).
Phuket Travel Summary: Phuket’s biggest advantage is that you can fly to it, but apart from that, it is the worst island in its group and one of the worst islands in Thailand.
